Rick Rowbotham CMLI
I am an artist working in the visual arts.
I have a background in urban design with a chartership in Landscape Architecture and Masterplanning with an exceptional record of transformative placemaking attracting national and international awards.
Over the last 40 years, I’ve played a principal role in leading major design projects throughout the world with an emphasis on ‘place-shaping’ in the urban condition. My distinction lies in the fusion of art, architecture and ecology allied to the process of Landscape Urbanism.
Much of my work has involved community development, city regeneration, post-conflict rebuilding, spatial hierarchies, mobility and connectivity. My projects have had a positive impact on the communities they have touched and without exception contributed to the enrichment of the built environment.
The advocacy of public participation was at the forefront of my time spent in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. I helped rebuild urban areas affected by conflict, restoring confidence and instilling motivation for change.
During the 1980s and 90’s I was at the forefront of UK contemporary urbanism set within the public realm bringing innovation and a cultural shift to the regeneration of the London Docklands.
